Illumination (a poem)
“You may see me as unformed fire,
Whence a voice comes running forth,
Or a horse flashing peals of lightning,
Or a young man sat on a horse.
“You may see me as tongues of fire
On the tip of each blade of grass,
Licking the shimmering wind I walk by,
Not bending a blade on my path.
“You may see the sky swimming with fire,
Or the sun blown out”, she said,
“While I hunt the wild deer in the forest,
Draw my arrow, and shoot them dead.”
